Persepolis: Part 1

Well in Persepolis it became a law for woman to were a veil because it was a symbol of Capitalism. They also separated the girls and boys.Marjane's mother dyed her hair and ware sunglasses because they took a picture of her in The Demonstrations. Marjane wants to be a prophet beacause she wanted the maids to eat with them . She also was close to God, she would talk to him every night and have discussions with him. Che Guevara was a Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, intellectual, guerrilla leader, diplomat and military theorist. A major figure of the Cuban Revolution. Fidel Castro is a Cuban revolutionary and politician, having held the position of Prime Minister of Cuba from 1959 to 1976, and then President from 1976 to 2008. Marjane leaned that her grandfather was a prince.

Final Six Word Memoir: Being Myself Is What Counts, Not What People Want Me To Be.

1. Pretending to be something your not.

Well what inspired me to write this 6 word memoir is a person that I don't want to mention. For some reason she doesn't like the way I am. She's always trying to change the way I am. Whenever we go out to see the family she always wants to change the way I dress. She doesn't like  the music I listen to, but that's just the way I am. The 6 word memoir is just trying to say that sometimes I have to pretend to be something I'm not around my family that doesn't live with me. In reality they don't know who I really am. I selected the image below because it's practically saying the truth. It's always better to be yourself then pretending to be something your aren't. If you do, then you're just hurting yourself.

Whale Rider

In the film Whale Rider a little girl name Pai is the leader of a  tribe. Her grandfather,
Pucker,does not want to accept her as the leader. Her grandmother actually shows her affection towards Pai, not like her grandfather, Pucker.Her grandmother supported her more than  Pucker. Later in the film Pucker kicks Pai out of the house because she tries do the same as the the boys after she is told not to by Pucker. Pai's uncle helps Pai by shower her how to becaome the leader of the tribe. I think Pai was not valued in her family by her grandfather beacuse she is a girl. Since her twin brother died at birth, her grandfather was disappointed that she survived and not her brother,which was going to become the leader. The only reason why Pai's grandfather accepted her was because she proved that she was the leader. Pai proved she was the leader by riding on a whale.
